Hi! I’m Dr Lucy van der Walt

Personal Story

I have been a general practitioner for 20 years and an occupational medicine practitioner for 15 of those 20 years.

I am passionate about the health and wellbeing of people and occupational medicine gives me a great opportunity to extend this passion into the working environment.

Ensuring a healthy and safe workplace not only takes care of the people of this beautiful country but also positively contributes to the growth of our economy.

I am the proud mom of four beautiful children that constitutes my second job…being a mom!

I grew up in southern Namibia and spent the first wonderful decade of my career practicing with my dad, surrounded by the wide open spaces of desolate part of our country.

Our extended family consists of 3 dogs and a cat!  When given the chance, our family loves camping.

As an alternative career I would have liked to have been a F1 racing driver and therefore I drive a red Hyundai Atos 1100.

Lastly I am an enthusiastic stoic at heart, adhering to the four virtues of… Courage, temperance, justice, wisdom.

Tamar Health

Tamar Health CC was established in 2003 with the primary goal of providing outstanding occupational health care and wellness services in the outlying rural areas of the arid south of Namibia.

Our core business was to deliver occupational health and wellness services to a multitude of companies and contractors involved in the mining sector, as well as supporting services. Supporting services included primary healthcare, HIV case management, injury on duty management, trauma medicine services, surgical procedures and allied health professional services/ value added wellness services. Tamar Health CC is founded on an ethics-based culture of trust between our professional team members, customers and service providers/suppliers.

Since our inception, we have also gained experience in various other sectors such as corporate clients, transport and industrial sectors.

We are thrilled to announce that Dr. Lucy van der Walt is now OEUK (Offshore Energy UK) accredited, formerly OGUK. This certification enables her to conduct specialised medical assessments for offshore workers, ensuring they meet global health and safety standards. With OEUK certification, employers and employees can confidently meet the stringent requirements of the oil and gas industry worldwide.

We continue to provide primary health care services such as general practitioner clinics and supporting healthcare professional services on-site and pride ourselves on delivering a high-quality service suited to our client’s individual needs.
